Chamber Awarded Top Business Advocate Award by CalChamber

San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce Sole Chamber in Region to Win

“President’s Circle” Recognition

Sacramento, CA – The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce was one of only 22 Chambers of Commerce in the State to be awarded the CalChamber’s prestigious “President’s Circle” award. Of the more than 325 members of the California Chamber of Commerce, the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce stood out for its advocacy efforts and for helping the local business community comply with California labor laws.

The Chamber and its leadership were recognized in a special ceremony in Sacramento at the annual CalChamber Legislative Business Summit on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. More than 500 Chamber leaders were in attendance as San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Roger Roberts accepted the award from CalChamber Chief Allan Zaremberg.

“This award reflects a lot of hard work with respect to our advocacy efforts and work with our local legislators,” said Mike Cully, President and CEO of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce. “This award acknowledges our cumulative effort of working in the best interest of business in the region and protecting the rights of business as a whole. To be singled-out from the hundreds of Chambers in the State that are also working hard in this respect is quite an honor.”

This is the first time in the 98-year history of the Chamber that the organization has won this award. In order to be selected for this honor the Chamber had to embark on an intensive educational campaign with regards to local employment laws; communicate regularly with membership about legislative affairs issues; weigh-in on local, regional, State and Federal legislation impacting business; regularly communicate with the State Chamber regarding issues affecting the region and take a leadership role in the formulation of pro-business legislation.

The San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce is the only Chamber in San Diego County to be recognized with this award.

The Mission of the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce is to be the respected voice of and advocate for public policy, educational opportunities, business and business opportunities throughout San Diego East County in support of our members.
